Generally speaking, the protective body is to protect the wire signal from being disturbed, to make the core wire into a cylindrical shape, to protect the core wire from looseness and to isolate the ground wire. Some people call it shadowing
There are usually three types of protective bodies:

1. Mylar/metal foil
It is covered on the wire in the form of single-sided, double-sided and 100% full aluminum foil.
• Transparent Mylar: Polyester material looks like a long strip of cellophane
• Al-Mylar: A layer of aluminum material is plated on the transparent Mylar to prevent interference
• Double Mylar: Both sides and two layers are plated with aluminum material, the protection effect is better than a single layer
• Other materials: copper foil Mylar, PE tape and PP tape
Its advantages are light weight and convenient unit price. It is a very good method mainly to prevent capacitive coupling (Capacitive Coupling), or to reduce ESD. The disadvantage is that the life of bending is not as good as that of braiding and winding, and the DC resistance is relatively high. The masking rate can reach 100%

2. Braid
A layer of wires is woven into each other on the outer cover of the wire.
• Copper braid: A mesh made of copper wire is sheathed on the core wire or Mylar to resist interference and strengthen the wire's tensile strength.
• Aluminum braid: A mesh made of aluminum wire is sheathed on the core wire or Mylar to prevent interference and strengthen the wire's tensile strength, but the anti-interference effect is not as good as that of copper braiding. The maximum shielding rate of weaving is 95% at most, and its toughness and bending resistance are better than Mylar, but the cost is higher. Mainly lies in reducing low frequency interference, and has low DC resistance. Usually the interference comes from the use of the panel that controls the engine. The rate can reach 100%.

3. Wire filler It is usually to make the wire more round and increase the tension of the wire. Common fillers are cotton yarn, paper, PP tape, and PVC filler strips. If you want to increase the tension of the wire, usually use cotton yarn or man-made fiber.
